Trump determined to acquire Canada

President-elect Donald Trump has once again advocated on Tuesday for the integration of Canada, a nation of approximately 41 million people, into the United States. He stated that he would employ "economic force" to unite the two countries, dismissing the border between them as an "artificially drawn line."

When asked in Mar-aLago Florida by a reporter about using military force to annex Canada, he responded;

"no, economic force, because Canana and the United States that would really be something"

Trump also suggested removing the physical boundary between the two countries which called "artificial drawn line", advocating that it would be necessary for national security.

Trump's whole drive towards making Canada part of his country is economic. He stated that the United States does not need "anything they have," including Canadian-made vehicles. "I'd rather manufacture them in Detroit," he remarked. However, he argued that it would be logical for Canada to join the U.S., given what he described as its significant reliance on the American economy and military.

The remarks followed an announcement by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who said he would soon step down as the country's leader. Trudeau’s Liberal Party has been trailing significantly in the polls ahead of an election required to take place before October 20.

Trudeau, whose relationship with Trump has been complicated for nearly a decade, has been grappling with the president-elect's threat to impose a 25% tariff on all Canadian goods and services. Trump has also referred to Trudeau as "governor," implying Canada is akin to a U.S. state. Trudeau has stated that Canada would reciprocate with equivalent tariffs, but he acknowledged that such measures could devastate Canada’s economy and lead to higher prices for American consumers.

Although Trump dismissed the use of military force in efforts to unite the two countries, he has taunted his desire to make Canada part of the United States, and has refrained from making a similar commitment regarding his interest in annexing or acquiring Greenland, or reclaiming partial control of the Panama Canal to strengthen the U.S.’s global and economic security.

As Trump will be inaugurated on the 20th of January, the entire world watches to see how far he can go to actualise this dream, considering that United States has earned the reputation of "Beacon of democracy", which means giving the people of any sovereign nation the right to choose their destiny and future.
